PhotoBox’s ‘Location Of The Month’ is back! For July, we’ll be taking a look at the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown. Nestled way down in the southwest of the South Island, the town is a mecca for backpackers and thrill seekers alike.
Despite it’s relatively small size, the town has the energy and to-do list of a small city. It’s not been an easy list to whittle down, but we’ve chosen our four favourite photo locations to share with you…
The Remarkables mountain range certainly lives up to its name as it creates an impressive backdrop for Queenstown.
During the winter months, visitors and locals alike can make the most of the snowy peaks with three mountain bowls to choose from. Equally, in the summer, a walk along the peaks boasts brilliant views of the town.
Regardless of whether you’re a skier, a biker or a sit-back-and-relaxer, The Remarkables offer…well, a remarkable photo vantage point either looking across from Lake Wakatipu or down from the craggy peaks.

Three different bungy locations in Queenstown offer thrice the amazing and unique views of the town and surrounding areas – even if you’re not brave enough to get over the ledge yourself! Our personal ‘must-do’ is the Nevis Bungy – set 134m above a canyon, it’s certainly not one for the faint hearted.

DOWN ON THE FARM
Off the beaten track on the Southern shore of Lake Wakatipu lies Walter Peak High Country Farm – a real working farm that visitors can tour around.
The highlight of the visit (aside from the homemade scones!) is the cruise across the lake on ‘TSS Earnslaw’ – the only coal fired steamship in operation in the southern hemisphere, making for a completely unique experience and some cracking photos!

SHOTOVER RIVER CANYON
When the adventure and excitement all becomes a bit too much, Shotover River Canyon is the place for some R&R.
Ever wished you could snap some amazing scenery while relaxing in a hot tub? Of course your have. Onsen Hot Pools offers just that – just make sure you keep your camera dry!
But, if you’re still not ready to slow down, you can always take a ride on one of the world-famous Jet Boats – if you’re a GoPro user, this is one for you.
Do you know and love Queenstown? We’ve only just scraped the surface of this amazing town, so why not share your favourite images with us below…
